Dont listen to any of those SONY answers. The latest and greatest Sony Digital Still Cameras still only do video quality up to 640x480 pixels at 30fps. Just about every digital camera with video capabilities shoot at this same quality. If you want the BEST digital camera at shooting video, its gotta be the new Canon Powershot TX1. 1080i straight from the camera via cables to your HDTV.

Lets compare pixels to pixels.

Sonys cameras are 640x480 which equals 307,200 pixels. Canons TX1 shoots at 1280x720 which equals 921,600 pixels. That means that the TX1 is 3 times better than any of the Sony cameras. Not only that, the Canon records in stereo sound. But, with every upside, theres a downside. Being that the quality is so high, youre gonna chew right through memory cards recording in High Def mode. Last I heard, 4 minutes of HD video will chew right thru a 1GB card. GB, but youll also have to pay a premium as well. Sony digital camera for about 3 years, and its great. Even though my 3 years old camera it is now considered pretty old, it still awesome. Sony cameras are known for the size and the high quality of their cameras. Sony digital camera for you.

Most Sony digital cameras will take memory stick pro. No other brand of cameras will. Thats the problem with Sony, while their cameras are of decent quality, though per my opinion somewhat trailing Canon and Nikon, their biggest problem is memory sticks.

They use their proprietary memory format, that is compatible between Sony cameras, but thats it. Cant use any other type of memory with Sony nor can use Sony memory with other cards. So you have two choices now: 1.

Get another Sony camera 2.

Get a different brand camera that uses SD cards and an SD card. And then it will be compatible with lots of other things, not just your camera. Just bumped into this link.

Canon, Sony, and Olympus I have a Canon and Olympus digital camera and Id have to say Canon is the best. My Canon powershot digital camera is only 6 megapixels but it is way better than my Olympus with 8 megapixels, which i got to originally replace my canon. Canon digital cameras automatically stabilize the shot and auto focus on something that stands out. They even have a cool color swap feature too. Even with only 6 megapixels my canon produces a shot better than my 8 megapixel 5X optical zoom Olympus Stylus does. Sorry dont know much about Sony digital cameras but they have a few good reviews as does Canon. Im in the USA and a Powerseller on eBay so you know Im trustworthy.
